Club facts and honours

Palmeiras were founded on 26 August 1914 as Palestra Itália by Italian immigrants in São Paulo. The club changed its name to Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras in September 1942 after Brazil joined the Allied powers in the Second World War. They are the most successful club in Brazilian top-flight history with 12 national championship titles, and won back-to-back Copa Libertadores in 2020 and 2021.
