Olympiacos matchday, fan first

Greece's most decorated club plays at Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium in Piraeus, about 8 km from central Athens. The full fan journey: who Olympiacos are, what they have won, how tickets work, how to get to Neo Faliro, and what to do in Piraeus or Athens before and after the match. Home fans can enjoy the port-city build-up and stadium atmosphere; visiting supporters should use official away guidance only — away restrictions in Greek derbies are real. Piraeus seafront (Mikrolimano, Zea harbour) gives the food-before-football option; Athens centre (Monastiraki, Psyrri) works for the night-after.

Club facts and honours

Olympiacos was founded in Piraeus on 16 May 1924 and received official recognition on 10 March 1925. The club is Greece's record champion with 48 Super League titles, a Piraeus port-city identity, and a global fanbase drawn from the Greek diaspora. In 2024 the first team became the first Greek club to win a major European trophy, taking the UEFA Europa Conference League; the under-19 side won the UEFA Youth League the same season. In 2025-26 Olympiacos finished second in the Super League to AEK Athens, qualifying for the Champions League third qualifying round.

Single-match tickets are also sold through olympiacos.more.com. Membership, ballot and seat-availability rules change each season — re-check the official site for the current fixture. Buy via olympiacos.more.com or the stadium box office outside Gate 25. Present photo ID at entry — tickets are nominal. Prices and availability are volatile; re-check fixture by fixture. Itineraries

Olympiacos: port-city pre-match in Piraeus

  1. Arrive in Piraeus via metro Line 1 (Green Line) to Piraeus station, or from Athens via the same line — about 30 minutes from Monastiraki.
  2. Head to Mikrolimano harbour or the Zea marina waterfront for seafood or a drink — hold specific venue names until the recommendation gate clears named options.
  3. Take the tram (Line 6, stop: Gipedo Karaiskaki) or a short walk/taxi to Karaiskakis Stadium in Neo Faliro.
  4. Check ticket and ID requirements before arriving — tickets are nominal and photo ID is required for entry.
  5. Arrive early: the stadium entrance lounge and Red Store are open on matchdays.

Venue steps use area-level options pending the recommendation gate. Transport route verified from official access maps and Wikipedia.

Olympiacos: Athens sightseeing plus matchday

  1. Base yourself in central Athens (Syntagma, Monastiraki or Plaka area) for easy sightseeing access to the Acropolis and Plaka neighbourhood.
  2. Take metro Line 1 (Green Line) from Monastiraki direct to Piraeus station — about 30 minutes.
  3. Transfer to tram Line 6 at Faliro for the stadium (stop: Gipedo Karaiskaki), or take a taxi from Piraeus station.
  4. After the match, return by tram and metro to Athens centre for bars and restaurants in Monastiraki or Psyrri — hold specific venue names until the recommendation gate clears.

Transport route verified. Named Athens venues remain held until recommendation gate clears.

Olympiacos: away-fan matchday (official guidance only)

  1. Check official away-fan guidance from Olympiacos and the relevant clubs before travelling — away restrictions in Greek football, especially derby matches, can be significant.
  2. Follow official entry instructions including any designated gates for away supporters.
  3. Travel using public transport where possible — tram Line 6 and metro Line 1 are the main options.
  4. Do not rely on guidance from unofficial sources; restrictions and allocations change fixture by fixture.

Away-fan content is safety-critical. Hold until official current-season away guidance is confirmed from official club sources.

Olympiacos: Conference League heritage visit

  1. Visit Karaiskakis Stadium for the Olympiacos Museum (opened August 2025 at the stadium complex — check current opening hours before visiting).
  2. Walk the Neo Faliro waterfront and see the stadium exterior, including the Gate 7 memorial context — 21 black seats and the eastern monument mark the 1981 tribute.
  3. Take the tram to Athens to visit Agia Sophia Stadium, where Olympiacos beat Fiorentina 1-0 (after extra time, El Kaabi 116') on 29 May 2024 to win Greece's first-ever European trophy.
  4. Combined with a Plaka or Monastiraki visit for traditional Athens food and sightseeing.

Museum opening hours must be checked before publishing — the opening date (August 2025) is verified but current hours are not. Agia Sophia Stadium address check required before publishing.
